Addiction & Mental Health Treatment for College Students

College students are one the most vulnerable groups to addiction and mental health disorders. Being away from home and support systems, plus the stress of schoolwork and social pressures, can create mental health challenges and lead to addiction as a coping mechanism.

From our center in Braintree, MA, our treatment is specifically designed for college students, and is effective to ensure their new chapter in life is safe and stable.

Flexible, Impactful Care

We understand that college students who need mental health and addiction support still value their flexibility and independence. Our outpatient programs enable young adults to receive essential care and still maintain their daily routines and a sense of autonomy.

Both our programs integrate evidence-based therapies, Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT) when clinically needed, and wellness practices to support emotional regulation, stress management, and a more positive self image.

Full Day Treatment

Our full day treatment program runs Monday through Friday, 9 AM to 3 PM. Attendees join sessions at our center in Braintree and return home in the evening. The program includes individual therapy, group therapy, skills-building, and activities to nurture physical and mental health.

We offer MAT for college students in addiction treatment, to help alleviate severe withdrawal and cravings. MAT involves FDA-approved drugs and is only administered by our on-site physicians who monitor use very closely.

This program is best suited to college students who are in the early stages of mental health and addiction treatment, and who are stable enough to live at home.

Half Day Treatment

Our half day treatment program runs Monday through Friday, 9 AM to 12 PM. It’s best suited to college students who are stepping down from full day treatment.

The only thing that changes between full day treatment and half day treatment is the number of hours at our center. The program still involves therapy sessions, MAT when needed, and wellness activities with qualified experts.

We also offer evening sessions for our half day treatment for college students who can’t attend during the day.

Our Therapeutic Approach

Our team of licensed clinicians work with expertise and empathy to help college students identify their mental health and addiction symptoms, understand the roots of disorders, and build actionable strategies to be sober and secure.

We use the following evidence-based therapies to guide young adults toward a more calm and confident inner and exterior world:

Trauma-Informed Care. All our care helps people recognize and process distressing events that affect mental health and drive addiction.

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) Therapy. Using gentle tapping or quick eye movements, we guide college students to safely address trauma.

Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT). Through individual and group therapy, we help people build life skills including distress tolerance and improved communication skills.

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). Talk therapy to challenge negative thought patterns and reframe thinking that can be harmful.

Group Therapy. Share stories with other college students about mental health and experiences. Receive feedback that offers a new perspective on events.

Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT). FDA-approved medications to manage severe withdrawal symptoms and intense cravings where necessary.

Expressive Therapy. Participate in creative activities such as drawing, dancing, and breathwork to move emotions in new ways.
